Two well-known premium private school groups, Reddam House and Reddford House, are now offering parents state-of-the-art co-educational boarding in select schools across South Africa. Since the opening of the first Reddam House in the year 2000, the group has taken great strides, growing to 8 schools across the country and establishing itself as one of the most prominent names in South African private education. The Reddford House schools launched in 2015. There are currently three highly successful Gauteng-based schools with plans afoot for further expansion.

With the commencement of the 2018 school year, Reddam House Helderfontein in Midrand launched boutique boarding homes for students from Grades 6 to 12. Reddam House Umhlanga, in KZN, will launch their boutique student residences in September 2018. In 2019, Reddam House Somerset (in Somerset West) and Reddam House Durbanville (both schools in the Western Cape) will launch their own bespoke home-from-home residences.

In addition, Pretoria’s Reddford House The Hills (a sister brand of Reddam House, which also forms part of the global Inspired schools group, active across five continents worldwide) – will launch its residence facility in 2019.

Boarding at Reddam House and Reddford House schools is aimed at being offered to both boys and girls in Grades 6 to 12 (Grade 7 to 12 at Reddam House Durbanville, Somerset and Umhlanga), providing a professional, homely and structured environment to students. Students will generally reside in boutique apartment-style rooms, complete with en-suite facilities and private study areas. Members of the Reddam Res family will be available to fetch students from airports and bus stations when required.

School leadership believes that through the convivial and supportive structure of this exclusive home-from-home environment, students will be able to better attain success and reach their potential in all spheres: academic, sporting and cultural. Managing Director of Reddam House schools for the Western Cape and KZN, Sheena Crawford Kempster, believes Reddam Residences offer students “a unique opportunity to immerse themselves more fully in the holistic educational ethos of our schools.”

“Our aim is to provide them with an education that goes far beyond solely academic achievement. We want to equip them to face the challenges of the modern world as fully formed, balanced individuals who will become the leaders who shape the world of tomorrow,” she states.

The decision to offer boarding at select schools is another value-add for the Reddam House and Reddford House brands, which have both made a name for themselves locally by offering a premium independent private education to students that is holistic and founded on global best practices, including a focus on the individual needs of each student in our care. The schools boast an excellent track record as far as academic results are concerned, and of the 293 students who matriculated from Reddam House schools nationally in 2017, 100% achieved a pass, while 82 students passed with an A-Aggregate and 48 students obtained six or more subject distinctions.
